FCDS Upper School Students Run to Raise Money for Special Olympics

On January 1, 2021, eleventh grader James Snyder and tenth grader Mackenzie Moore started a self-directed challenge to run one mile at the beginning of every hour for 24 hours. They called it Endure for 24 Challenge, and the goal was to raise money for the Special Olympics through pledges and donations.

Since they are both members of the FCDS Special Olympics club and James is the vice president of the club, this charity was important to them. They raised $2,500 for Special Olympics of Forsyth County and presented the check last week.

“Mackenzie and I created the Endure for 24 as a fun running challenge to see how far we could push ourselves while raising money for Special Olympics. We both believe that everyone should have the chance to experience competition, achievement, joy, and the community that sports bring to the world,” said James.

Congratulations to James and Mackenzie for this great accomplishment! Thank you to everyone who donated to this cause and supported the challenge.
