Many parents are looking for an intentional learning experience for their children ages 2 to 5. They want their children exposed to literacy, math, science, art, conversational Spanish, music, and physical activity.
Of course, they also want them to play, make friends, and be excited to learn.
If you’re looking for an all-day, year-round educational environment for your child, then our Preschool may just be your answer.
Our Preschool offers a unique opportunity for our youngest learners. This robust year-round experience is designed to prepare students cognitively, socially, and physically for an effortless transition to kindergarten and beyond.
By focusing on the development of skills necessary for success in our kindergarten program, students build foundational knowledge in the five developmental domains: social emotional, language and literacy, logical mathematics, physical development, and adaptive skills.
The all-day schedule still leaves time for play and exploration—in a warm and caring environment.

We'd like to show you around. Schedule your tour today!

  • Partnership with Parents

Parents play a vital role in their children’s education and FCDS enjoys a supportive and interactive partnership with parents. Through the formal Parents' Association, parents may take part in school-wide activities or may volunteer in specific areas, such as the library, or in individual classrooms. Parents support the instructional program in a wide variety of ways.

Throughout the year, the school hosts informative parent nights to help keep parents apprised about curriculum changes or program developments. In addition, teachers provide quarterly feedback regarding individual student progress. Twice yearly, the school hosts formal conferences. Each teacher maintains helpful web pages.
  • Our Learning Environment

Students in Preschool enjoy large state-of-the art classrooms, each equipped with SmartBoards and extensive learning materials that support our dynamic curriculum.

Preschool students enjoy a full-size gymnasium in addition to extensive outdoor play equipment and spacious open, grassy areas as well as the natural playground and the push and pedal playground. The separate Jeanette M. Smith Lower School Library serves the needs of our younger students.
