International Student Program For more than 15 years, Forsyth Country Day School has enrolled full-time students from a variety of international locations to join its Upper School program. Students’ interests range from a desire to become immersed in the American educational system and culture, to be able to practice and develop proficiency with spoken English, the opportunity to graduate from FCDS and attend American universities, and more. Students are also able to visit FCDS as part of cultural exchanges in the Lower and Middle School. Beginning in 2018, FCDS will also enroll full-time international students into the Middle School Program.
Typically, students come to FCDS for a minimum of one academic year (from August through the following June) and live with a local area host family throughout that time. There are high levels of coordination between the school and the family as this makes for a more fluid and fulfilling experience abroad.
Prior to students’ arrival, we ensure that each student is matched with a “buddy,” a current FCDS student, to begin forming connections as a member of our community. Upon arrival, students take part in a 2-day orientation during which we cover the “nuts & bolts” of day-to-day campus life and offer useful tools to aid in the transition.
"We have hosted international students for the last three years and have enjoyed learning about their cultures. It's great to share many first time experiences with our students. They have been kind and hardworking, and have become friends of our sons." - Debbie Peterson, FCDS Parent
