  • Middle School Fifth Grade Academy Teacher

    Fifth Grade Academy Teacher for the 2020-2021 school year: Forsyth Country Day School provides time for students to develop the skills needed to independently navigate Middle School by offering a Fifth Grade Academy. The Academy focuses on developing executive functioning skills, supporting the social and emotional transition to Middle School, and building a community of learners. An Academy teacher at Forsyth Country Day School provides a safe, nurturing environment for students in his or her classroom and utilizes the school’s instructional program. The teacher works to create meaningful, developmentally appropriate learning experiences in order to continue to build strong foundational skills for lifelong learning. Teachers are committed to growth as professionals and individuals, and value and respect every member of the community. 
     
    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • With a co-teacher, develops a balanced, interdisciplinary program that is designed to encourage students to develop skills and attitudes, draw conclusions, achieve improved interpersonal relationships, and make value judgments based on scientific methods of inquiry.
    • Employs a variety of teaching methods including individual and small group instruction to meet the needs of students with varying abilities, attitudes, and backgrounds.
    • Supports students as they develop study and organization techniques.
    • Encourages an inclusive classroom that accepts the different perspectives and backgrounds of the students and elicits a greater understanding of the world around them with a global perspective.
    • Provides tutorials as necessary for students in need of extra academic support.
    • Advises a homeroom section
    • Communicates regularly with parents of students including conducting conferences.
    • Identifies pupil needs, and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
    • Participates in divisional, team, department, and all-school faculty meetings. 
    • Maintains a positive attitude and conducts oneself professionally with respect to students, faculty, parents and the community.
    • Vigorously pursues knowledge of the areas and level taught.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:
    • Ability to positively contribute to a team environment and to our school community 
    • Knowledge of and ability to support middle school students’ social, emotional, physical and intellectual development 
    • Seeks opportunities to learn and reflect
    • Demonstrates effective classroom management skills
    • Able to manage multiple tasks and priorities
    • Effective problem solving and analytical ability
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Ability to meet deadlines
    • Maintains a healthy sense of humor

    PREFERENCES:
    • B.A/B.S degree in teaching from an accredited institution
    • 3 or more years of teaching experience

    Middle School Social Studies Teacher for the 2020-2021 school year: A middle school social studies teacher at Forsyth Country Day School provides a safe, nurturing environment for students in his or her classroom, utilizing the school’s instructional program. The teacher works to create meaningful, developmentally appropriate learning experiences in order to continue to build strong foundational skills for lifelong learning.     • Employs a variety of teaching methods including individual and small group instruction to meet the needs of students with varying abilities, attitudes, and backgrounds.

  • Cleaning Crew Member

    Our school is seeking individuals to join our cleaning crew. Our full-time positions offer: Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance benefits, paid holidays, vacation, and sick days, with flexible evening/night working hours Monday-Friday.  
     
    The primary purpose of this position is to provide general cleaning, removing trash, dusting, cleaning restrooms, vacuuming, mopping, stocking toiletries and other cleaning duties as assigned to the Academic and Auxiliary Services Buildings.
     
    Qualifications:
    A clean background check and drug screen will be required.
    Ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude at all times.
    Ability to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
    Good organizational and time management skills are a must.
    Models compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity.
    Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
    Must be capable of occasionally lifting 50lbs.

Forsyth Country Day School (FCDS) is a private, college preparatory, independent school for preschool through high school located in Lewisville, NC, just outside of Winston-Salem.
