Furies Win Against Calvary

Harold Moore
CALVARY BAPTIST RECAP 9 4 2018
TODAY’S MATCH STARTED OFF WITH STEADY PLAY ON ALL COURTS. Ashley Parsons scored the first Fury point, with a 6-0,6-0 victory. Ashley used a combination of steady serving and hustle on ground strokes to close out her match. Mary Brooks Hall came off next with a 6-0, 6-0 victory on court three. She had an excellent day of serving and hit some impeccable drop shots. Fury number one, Maddie Smith, was very solid on the ground and used a drop/shot lob strategy to perfection. Her score was 6-0, 6-0. Erika Choopani found a new way of winning today by using a lot of soft angles as she worked through her match. Yu Otaki at #6, used a variety of shots to control the action on her court. Mostly, she stayed away from her power drives and focused on moving the ball around the court with medium pace. Fury #2 Halle Kincaid was involved in the best contest of the day as she fought through a match that featured tons of long rallies. Both girls hit a lot of balls down the center of the court in a test of wills. Their match was called off due to thunder in the area with Halle leading 6-2, 4-1.
The match ended without doubles play because of thunder and lightening in the area. Our Furies won this one 5-0.
