We Welcome International Students

Experience a personalized and rewarding education to set you up for lifelong success.
Many students from China, Germany, Serbia, Croatia, Spain, and other countries have gained valuable experience at our independent day school that prepares students for what’s ahead. For more than 17 years, Forsyth Country Day School has opened its doors to full-time international high school students.

At Forsyth Country Day, we know that students succeed in life when they are fully prepared for the opportunities and challenges ahead. That’s why the Forsyth education provides a balanced experience that focuses on academics that enrich and interests that engage. With small classes, invested teachers, and a collaborative community, students benefit from a supportive and inspiring educational experience.

Here’s why international students love attending FCDS:

List of 7 items.

  • Our Campus

Sheltered on a beautifully wooded 85 acres surrounding a lake. We’re in a town near a small city that is easy to navigate and offers plenty of opportunities. Winston-Salem is 10 minutes away and is home to Wake Forest University as well as the headquarters for Hanesbrands, Krispy Kreme, Reynolds American, and other major companies.
  • Close-knit Community

Among students, teachers, staff, and parents, we created a harmonious environment that develops strong, solid relationships. Our students are known and cared for. Each student is encouraged to share perspectives, ask questions, and be curious in small class settings that are warm, supportive, and inviting.
  • Invested Faculty

Our teachers care about the personal and educational experience of every student. They make sure each child is valued, understood, and challenged. This approach builds students’ self-esteem and allows them to flourish.
  • College Counseling

Our college counselors are attentive to each student's potential and are equipped to make the right-fit college recommendations. Our students have the opportunity to participate in application workshop, SAT and ACT test prep, college tours, college essay writing workshop, and college representative visits.
  • Student Support

    • Students have dedicated advisors and college counselors for all four years of high school to guide them at every step.
    • English Language Learners (ELL) supports students, connects them with other international students, and prepares them for college and beyond.
    • Academic coaching is available for extra guidance.
    • Students are offered individual support during transition and development through classroom modifications including new student orientation.
  • Opportunities

Students have many opportunities to participate in arts, athletics, clubs, service, and leadership. These extra-curricular activities help students find their passion, bond with other students, and pave their way to college.
  • Home Environment

Students live in the homes of our host families, oftentimes with other children in the house. They become part of the family and are fully immersed in American family life. Additionally, they learn American culture and traditions, gain support beyond the school day, and have numerous opportunities outside of school.
At FCDS, we know that a diverse and inclusive school community makes the lives of all students and teachers richer. We welcome you to learn more about our school and to join our community.
