FCDS Senior Named National Merit Scholarship Winner

Congratulations to FCDS senior Ava Claire Scherer for being named a National Merit Scholarship Winner!

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced the winners of approximately 6,870 National Merit Scholarships from more than 16,000 distinguished finalists. Winners are awarded $2,500 in scholarships.

NMSC, a not-for-profit organization that operates without government assistance, was established in 1955 specifically to conduct the annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Scholarships are underwritten by NMSC with its own funds and by approximately 400 business organizations and higher education institutions that share NMSC’s goals of honoring the nation’s scholastic champions and encouraging the pursuit of academic excellence.

“This well-earned recognition reflects years of intentional effort and a deep commitment to her academic journey,” said Director of College Counseling Leah Hoffman. “Congratulations to Ava Claire — we’re excited to see what she accomplished at North Carolina State University over the next four years!”

We’re very proud of Ava Claire for this incredible accomplishment!
