Nathan Battle, Director of Entrepreneurship

Nathan, who attended FCDS through the end of his sophomore year, received a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in teaching from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

He joined the FCDS faculty in 2005, teaching history, coaching, and serving as dean of students from 2005-2009 and as assistant director of the Upper School from 2009-2011.

In 2011, Nathan left FCDS to help launch the “better for you” beverage company, Grins, where he served as Director of Fun and Managing Partner. From 2011 to 2014, he also served as Head of New Business Development at Yadkin Valley Foods, where he helped promote growth for the Junior Johnson brands.

As Director of Entrepreneurship, Nathan will help the school build relationships with corporations and businesses, allowing students to develop entrepreneurial and innovation skills and encouraging partnerships between FCDS and local businesses. Over time, Nathan will help to build out an entrepreneurship program at FCDS. He will also teach two sections of Middle School history in the fall.

Nathan and his wife Kaitlin have two young children, Reese ’29 and Bo.
