    Bio
     
    Kennedy received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education with a minor in diversity studies from Appalachian State University and earned her master’s in reading education from NC State University. She taught for four years in the Yadkin County School system, serving on the School Improvement Team, organizing fundraisers for her school, and earning Teacher of the Year. She received an additional certification through STARR Commonwealth to become a Trauma Informed Educator. She lives with her husband, Stuart.

    Bio
     
    A native of Downers Grove, Illinois, Jen earned her bachelor’s degree in graphic design from Illinois State University. She earned her master’s degree in mental health counseling at National Louis University and sat for the Illinois mental health licensure exam. After earning a subsequent degree in school counseling, Jen served as a middle school counselor and a district school counselor, providing social and emotional support and guidance for students in preschool through eighth grade.

    Jen and her family relocated to Winston-Salem in 2018. Jen has two children: Emily and Olivia (FCDS ‘24).

    Originally from Raleigh, Kelly earned her bachelor’s degree from Davidson College and her master’s degree from Duke University. 

    Kelly’s 16-year career in education has ranged from two years teaching Spanish with Teach for America to the past 14 years in independent schools as a teacher and administrator. Most recently, Kelly was the assistant middle school director at the Canterbury School in Greensboro. 

    As chief of staff, Kelly will apply her substantial management and organizational skills to organize and prioritize important issues and necessary information for the Head of School in order to facilitate timely and appropriate decision making. Kelly will work closely with the Board of Trustees and its committees, coordinate communication with the Board, and serve as an advisor to the Head. 

    Kelly and her husband Robert have two sons, Hudson (FCDS '33) and Barrett (FCDS '35).

    Bio
     
    A native of Winston-Salem, Joyce earned her bachelor’s degree in intermediate education with a Spanish concentration and her master’s degree in education from Appalachian State University. She is licensed in gifted education and middle school science education. 

    Before coming to FCDS, she worked in the Davie County Schools for 17 years, teaching sixth grade science at three different schools as well as teaching K-6 Spanish, ELA, serving as science department chair, and working on the Gifted Education Service Team. She is a former member of the NCAE, FLANC, and NCSTA.

    Joyce and her husband Rich have two adult children, Maddy and Richmond.

    Born and raised in Winston-Salem, Elizabeth earned her bachelor’s degree in sociology with an emphasis in social services and a minor in youth development studies from Clemson University.
Our faculty knows our students’ names, supports them, encourages them, and is always pulling for them. In this way, our staff continually draws out the best in each and every child, showing them how to study, advocate for themselves, and develop a solid work ethic.

Teachers, coaches, and counselors are all invested in making sure each child is valued, understood, and challenged at the right time. This individual approach – along with small class sizes – allows your child to flourish and be prepared for what's ahead.
