Preschool - Age 2-5

Our Preschool offers a unique opportunity for our youngest learners. This enriching year-round experience is designed to prepare students socially, cognitively, and physically for an effortless transition to kindergarten and beyond.

Our intentional learning experience for children aged 2 to 5 promotes language, literacy, mathematical reasoning, physical development, wellness, self-care, and social and emotional growth. Students learn through play, make friends, and are excited to learn.

Through play-based learning, students use their curiosity to explore the world around them and build foundational knowledge. Our caring and invested teachers know each child and help every step of the way.

The all-day schedule still leaves time for play and exploration—in a warm and caring environment.

We'd like to show you around. Schedule your tour today!

Partnership with Parents

Parents play a vital role in their children’s education and FCDS enjoys a supportive and interactive partnership with parents. Through the Parents' Association, parents participate in school-wide activities or volunteer in specific areas, such as the library, or individual classrooms. Parents support the instructional program in a wide variety of ways.

Throughout the year, the school hosts informative parent nights to help keep parents apprised about curriculum changes or program developments. In addition, teachers provide quarterly feedback regarding individual student progress. Twice yearly, the school hosts formal conferences. Each teacher maintains helpful webpages.

Our Learning Environment

Students in Preschool enjoy large state-of-the-art classrooms, each equipped with SmartBoards and extensive learning materials that support our dynamic curriculum.

Preschool students enjoy a full-size gymnasium in addition to extensive outdoor play equipment and spacious open, grassy areas as well as the natural playground and the push and pedal playground. The separate Jeanette M. Smith Lower School Library serves the needs of our younger students.

After School Enrichment

FCDS Enrichment provides opportunities to explore interests, hone skills, and gain confidence right on campus.

After School Enrichment offers activities like dance, soccer, science, visual art, yoga, and Crazy Running for Preschool students.
