Fury Traditions Explained
What is Music on the Lawn?

A Fury tradition that occurs in the fall and spring. This fun family event is sponsored by the FCDS Parents’ Association and includes music, food, face painting, and other activities. It’s another opportunity to meet other families, show our Fury pride, and build community.

What is Spirit Week?

We have a spirit week for each of our three seasons of sports: fall, winter, and spring. This is an opportunity for us to show our Fury pride and support our many teams. In Upper and Middle School, the Student Government Association chooses themes for each day of the week. Preschool and Lower School participate with their own dress-up themes. Typically, the week culminates with a K-12 pep rally.

What is Tailgate?

This fun Fury tradition occurs in the fall and spring around athletic home games. The whole community is invited to cheer on the Furies and enjoy food and connect.

What is Buddy Day?

Buddy Day is an ongoing opportunity for our students (preschool-grade 12) to share time together doing community-building activities associated with our core values (respect, responsibility, compassion, integrity, and curiosity).

What is Community Night?

Community Night is an opportunity for our FCDS parents and students (preschool-grade 12) to gather as a community and share a meal and engage in a variety of activities. When parents ask, "How can I get involved?" being a member of community nights is an easy and fun way to engage. A full community night calendar can be found here.

What is the Delayed Start for Professional Development?

Consistent and ongoing opportunities for our teachers to collaborate allow us to grow in our profession and best meet the needs of all of our students. The professional mornings ensure that we have scheduled time for all of our faculty and staff to participate in shared learning and development together.

What is Wonderful Wednesday?

Wonderful Wednesday occurs about once a month and is a PA-sponsored event. Parents collaborate to provide amazing food for our teachers - what a treat!
