FCDS victorious over West Stokes

Eight Furies Contribute to 7-2 Win

Today's game turned into a pleasant surprise as our Fury players swept all six singles matches against West Stokes. The boys reminded me of last year's loss at West Stokes before the match and I encouraged them to take care of each court with their best efforts. Once again Duncan Hart scored the first Fury point as he mixed up some fine groundstrokes with powerful volleys at the net. Rohan Patel was not too far behind as he made a focused effort to drive his opponent off the court with crisp forehands and some of his best serving of the year. Aran Parnia simply out-lasted his opponent, point after point, as he kept his strong forehand under control for the duration of his match. A rested Nick Peters showed up ready to play today as he had his best performance of the year with both his serves and groundstrokes. Nick's return game was spot-on today allowing him to cruise to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at #1.

Another Fury making a strong statement was Spencer Muller. He took command of his court from the first point and never let up until his match was over. Ben Williams played without the motivation of finishing before his brother, Hank, who was out of the line-up with an injury. While Ben held the reins of control on his court throughout the match, his usual fire was not there to lift him to 110% excellence.

At #1 doubles, Nick and Aran fell behind after the first six games and then staged a mammoth comeback to take our final point of the match. Radin Choopani teamed with Rohan Patel in his first varsity match of the season and showed he will be a force to be reckoned with next year. Also playing his first varsity match of the season was Xun "Moose" Cao who teamed up with Duncan Hart at #3 doubles. I'm very proud of the efforts of both boys in these two matches.

Our record now stands at 5-3 for the season.

Go Furies!!!
