FCDS Upper School Wins Top Award at Orchestra Festival

The string orchestra traveled to Nashville to perform at the festival and had the chance to experience Music City’s many attractions, including the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Ryman Auditorium,  Historic RCA Studio B, and the Nashville Zoo. They also had the opportunity to attend a performance by the Nashville Symphony Orchestra and spend a night at the Grand Ole Opry.

Under the direction of Mr. Aaron Craven, the Upper School String Orchestra not only earned a Superior rating at the national adjudication (the highest level), but they won the Heritage Festival Orchestra Adjudicator Award, which is given to the group at the festival with the highest overall score. “This is an amazing honor for our string orchestra students,” Mr. Craven said.

Want to experience this award-winning group in person? There are two upcoming opportunities. On Monday, April 29, the FCDS Orchestra will open for the UNC-Greensboro Symphony Orchestra, and on Thursday, May 2, they will perform their final concert of the year at FCDS at 7 p.m. in the Auditorium.
