Furies win 8-1 at Westchester Country Day

Recap:
Furies win 8-1 at Westchester Country Day School

Westchester’s #1 and #2 girls refused to give up any easy points today in singles or doubles. This resulted in long rallies on point after point and some fun matches to watch. Fury #1, Maddie Smith never found her footing to anchor her power game on the clay surface today against an excellent player for the Wildcats, who focuses on consistency. While Maddie retrieved tons of balls herself, she just couldn’t prevail without her power game today.
Fury #2, Halle Kincaid had another lengthy match as her opponent stayed on the baseline and refused to miss. Halle went down 4-1 in this match before she willed herself to overcome an opponent who was determined to keep the ball in play longer than Halle. Certainly, Westchester had an advantage playing on their home clay courts, but Halle found enough balance and strength to pull out this terrific match.
The matches at #3, Mary Brooks Hall, #4, Ashley Parsons and #5, Erika Choopani proved to be much easier as our girls controlled them from start to finish. In these matches, we managed to control our errors and forced some crucial ones from the Westchester Wildcats. Truly, error management was a big factor.
Smith and Kincaid combined at #1 doubles to defeat their opponents 8-6 in a very tough battle. Once again, consistency was a big factor for the Wildcats, while our Furies were able to force more errors in this exciting match. Hall and Choopani played good doubles to overcome their opponents 8-1.
Go Furies!!!
