Exciting Wilderness Adventure for FCDS Students

The Yosemite trip challenged everyone in some way. The challenges were physical and mental. Yosemite is one of the most beautiful places in America, so at least they were overcoming adversity with great views!

For four days the group backpacked through Yosemite National Park, often with the incredible face of Half Dome right in front of them. The adventure forced the eleven individual students to work together to ensure that they all made it to the next camp, their tents were set up properly, their dishes were washed, and enough water was collected and filtered. It was team building at its finest.

The guides, Scott and Fred, instructed the group on how to behave in the backcountry. They were focused on cooperation, safety, and the policy of “leave no trace.” All of the students gained a new-found respect for the great outdoors and a reverence for this country’s amazing national parks.
