FCDS Orchestra and Band Earn Top Ratings at National Adjudication

The Upper School Orchestra and Concert Band trip to Philadelphia was an amazing success! Both the orchestra and band earned Superior Ratings at the Philadelphia Heritage Performance Adjudication on Saturday, April 8. The orchestra earned a Superior Rating for the eleventh year in a row.

Of the 18 performing ensembles at the festival, the FCDS String Orchestra received the highest award – the Heritage Festival Adjudicator Award. This award is given to the performing group with the highest overall score and is a wonderful honor for our orchestra students and for their director, Mr. Aaron Craven.

The 60 students who attended enjoyed the sights in Philadelphia including the National Constitution Center, the Liberty Bell, and Independence Hall. Other highlights of the trip included performances by the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Broadway tour of Cabaret, and a show by the Mad Cap Players. The students really enjoyed spending time touring, playing, and celebrating together!

Special thanks to our chaperones Ms. Rebecca McKee, Dr. Lucian Sorescu, Ms. Erika Turvaville, Mr. Tom Howell, and Dr. Mike Drucker.
