FCDS Odyssey of the Mind Team Wins First Place in Regional Competition

Seven Middle and Upper School students participated in the North Carolina Odyssey of the Mind Regional Competition in Greensboro on Saturday, March 9. The team scored 346.43 out of a possible 350 capturing first place and beating out a veteran team of seniors from Northwest Guildford High School. They will advance to the State Finals at East Carolina University on Saturday, April 6.

Congratulations to Carolina Rocha Lima (10th), Sarah Jin (10th), Katherine Li (9th), Joshua Howard (9th), Sophie Scherer (9th), Kaeden Palmer (8th), and Ava Scherer (6th).

“Given we have four ‘rookies’ this year, I was very proud of their hard work - especially given the participation of these kids in so many other extracurricular activities in and out of school,” says their coach and FCDS parent Brian Scherer. “Job well done!”

The students worked great as a team and proudly represented FCDS on Saturday.
