Furies Compete in 9-0 Loss Against St. David's School

Harold Moore
This FCDS Coach claps for his team tonight. Our girls competed at the best of their abilities from Court #1 to Court #6 against a potential state championship team. Fury Co-captain Maddie Smith showed true grit as she traded hard ground strokes and ran down some tremendous would-be winners on Court #1. Maddie stepped up and gave her team 120% effort in her 6-2, 6-0 loss. On Court #2, Halle Kincaid was just as inspiring as she played extremely hard against another USTA state ranked player. Halle showed improvement in her serves and forehand today as she fought to compete against a very strong opponent. On Court #3 Mary Brooks Hall fought to get to every possible ball. This eighth grader showed improvement on her serves and movement as she ran down lots of good dropshots. She also showed improvement in her return of serves. Erika Choopani, our seventh grader on Court #4, played well above her age, as she fought for every point pitted against a more experienced opponent who happened to be a senior. Both girls hit the ball hard on this court and Erika earned some respect for her big forehand. This match was the most intense of the day with both girls playing tons of power shots close to the lines. Ashley Parsons played on Court #5 for us today and did an excellent job of getting lots of balls back against a very consistent player. She used good judgment today in trying to keep balls going high over the net. On Court #6 Sarah Jin suffered her first loss of the season against a really strong opponent. As usual, Sarah hustled for every ball in a match that was closer than the final score.

Our girls played some of their best doubles matches of the season although we still dropped all three matches. Thanks to our parents and fans for coming out and supporting Fury Girls’ Tennis.

Go Furies!!!
