FCDS’s First LEGO League Team Moves on to State Competition

On Saturday, November 16, FCDS hosted a regional tournament for the national First LEGO League program. Over 37 teams competed including the new Furies team of students ranging from fourth to eighth grade.

The team included: Aarnav Gorantla, Cara Freeman, Gideon Mount, Jack Sweeney, Jackson Spivey, JC Scott, Nathan Loyd, Ramzi Badreddine, Sam Bailor, and Will Stern.

“We have been meeting over the last few months in preparation, and we had no idea what to expect,” said Coach Mark Snow. “I was so excited to see them score fourth in points for the robotics portion out of 37 schools. That’s huge! The effort required the team to show focus, problem-solving skills, teamwork, and determination.”

Here’s a video of the robotics portion.

Special thanks to the Gobots from Clemmons Middle, especially FCDS librarian Kelly Eisenbraun's children, who mentored the Furies team.

Congratulations to the team members and head coach Mark Snow and assistant coaches Robin Snow and Grayson York.

The team heads to the NCFLL State Competition in January.
