Join us for exciting architecture experiences downtown this summer!

Architecture Insider Tours

Gain inside design knowledge of iconic buildings in Downtown Winston-Salem from local architects, including, designing architect and incoming campus architect Lauren Frye, AIA, during weekly building tours. Each week we'll explore a different building: from the history behind the Bailey Power Plant to the revitalization of the Central Library and an entire block of Liberty Street. Come experience the beauty and complexity of architecture in our city, and come away with a newfound appreciation for the power of design.

Friday Tours - 9:30-11:30 am
June 28 - Centenary United Methodist + office tour led by Lambert Architecture & Interiors
July 12 - Arts for Art's Sake + office tour led by Stitch
July 19 - Forsyth County Central Library led by the Steele Group
July 26 - Bailey Power Plant led by Walter Robbs Callahan & Pierce Architects

Details:
  • Come for one ($20pp), or join us for all five tours ($90pp).  
  • Tours will meet at the entrance to FCDS Downtown @ 500 W. 5th St at 9:30 am, and return by 11:30 am. 
  • Cost includes optional bus departing FCDS @ 9 am and returning by 12 pm.
  • Open to Everyone - Middle & Upper School Students & Parents 
 
 

Pop Up Winston-Salem: A design + build experience

Join an intergenerational team for an experience that makes an impact this summer. Participants in this one week camp will learn about public space, and have the opportunity to design and install a public art installation Downtown for the First Friday Gallery Hop.

Participants will gain design thinking and leadership skills in a team-centric environment.
