Dear Forsyth Country Day School Students and Parents,
We are writing to inform you about Habitat for Humanity YOUTH United’s fourth annual build. This year FCDS will be partnering with Mount Tabor, West Forsyth, RJ Reynolds, Reagan, and Bishop McGuinness to raise $55,000 and build this year’s house.
This year also marks a change in the organization of the Habitat for Humanity YOUTH United Board. Instead of a silo approach where each separate school raises a certain amount of money YOUTH United will work as a whole to raise the money needed to build this year’s house. We will also be spending a large part of our time educating the youth in lower and middle schools about YOUTH United and Habitat for Humanity.
In addition, there will be a new setup with the Executive Board of YOUTH United. There will be one group of four students (already selected) that serve as the Co- Presidents, Secretary, and Treasurer of the entire Board (all six schools). Along with these four people there are 3 committees that are designated to three parts of YOUTH United: Advocacy, Fundraising, and Volunteer/Construction.
Students from FCDS can participate on any of these three committees, we just need your name and contact information. They will meet continually throughout the year, but serve as your opportunity to work alongside other students from other schools and take a significant role in building this year’s YOUTH United house.
Last year, many FCDS parents generously supported the Habitat house by making personal donations, volunteering, or supporting our corporate sponsors throughout the city. This year, in order to match the success of YOUTH United 2005, we are encouraging everyone to support the fund-raisers listed below to enrich the greater Winston-Salem community as well as our own school community.
- Halloween- Trick-or-Treating for YOUTH United
- The month of November- Nickels for Nails- be on the lookout for various collection points located throughout the school
- December 1st- Techno Dance Party- The Werehouse
We are looking forward to another successful and rewarding YOUTH United build.
Sincerely,
Kathryn Clark Mimi Driscoll Stewart Cooper
