My FCDS

FastTrack offers FCDS juniors, seniors, and homeschoolers the unique opportunity to engage in UNC-Greensboro college-level instruction while enjoying the many benefits of an FCDS Upper School experience. Through a partnership with UNC-Greensboro, FCDS juniors and seniors can earn three college credits and high school credit simultaneously if the students earn a grade of C or higher in their course.

Taken online during the school day, these interactive, multi-media courses engage the students in 21st-century skills. These semester-long classes offer flexible scheduling in order to allow students to take traditional on-campus courses, play on athletic teams, or participate in the arts. A dedicated on-site mentor works with students to coordinate online course scheduling and ensure that students stay up-to-date on assignments. The mentor meets regularly with students and proactively communicates with parents.

In addition, mentors help students navigate their coursework and bring their journey to a fulfilling conclusion. They support and augment the online component by facilitating group discussions and conducting seminars or Webinars. Based on the nature of the individual courses and the level of student involvement, Interactive Fridays may introduce on-campus speakers, offer off-campus trips, or feature guest speakers from across the globe through Skype.

Employing superior technology, FastTrack affords students online learning with the educational excellence and personalized attention characteristic of FCDS. Students enrolled in these courses develop critical thinking and course management skills required for college. Our College Counseling staff is well prepared to help FastTrack students incorporate their online coursework into their admissions profile.

FastTrack is another step FCDS takes to acclimatize our students to the college environment. It will help prepare FCDS students for the intellectual challenges and expectations of college life.  Offering long-term financial savings for our families, FastTrack gives students the possibility of entering college with a significant number of course credits - creating the potential for expanded travel and internship experiences.

University research shows that transitional programs prior to entering college effectively prepare college-bound students for the academic rigors they face on campus. A University of Minnesota study reported that dual-enrollment students’ grade-point averages after two years of college were higher than their non-participating peers. Dual enrollment students were also more likely to persist in college and make progress towards their chosen degree.

FastTrack is the perfect mix of creative and engaging online learning coupled with the superior guidance provided by Forsyth Country Day School faculty. Having the support of the FCDS family will not only prove beneficial when digesting course work, but the faculty at FCDS will help to inspire and motivate in ways that would be impossible with other online programs. Come experience the digital learning landscape of FastTrack.
