Gamblin brand: Transparent Orange

Accessories: Windsor Newton brand Rathbone Natural Filbert Brushes #2, #4, #6, a palette knife, 9" x 12" disposable palette paper, vine charcoal, art gum eraser, paper towels (Viva Brand), camera, baby wipes, Masters brand hand soap bar, oderless mineral spirits, small canning jars for storing mineral spirits and medium, Gum Turpentine, Damar Picture Varnish, and Linseed Oil (used to make medium, the recipe is: 1/3 turpentine, 1/3 picture varnish, 1/3 linseed oil), rabbit glue or gesso will also be needed to prime the painting surface, and clips.

Easels: A sturdy easel is a must. For a good, portable easel, I recommend the Guerrilla Painter Pochade 9" x 12" box, the hang-up brush caddy, the paper towel holder, and an extension for the palette. The portable easel will also need a tripod, if you do not have one at home already. This easel could be transported back and forth from college to home and is small enough that it could be used in a dorm room. The drawback is that it will not hold canvas panels bigger than 9" x 12". If you want to paint large, go with a traditional, large easel. If there is a need to transport wet paintings (no larger than 12" x 16" - I also recommend the Guerrialla Painter Wet Painting Carrier.

Surfaces: There are a lot of choices out there for painting surfaces. You can buy pre-stretched canvas (12" x 16" or 16" x 20" is a good starting size), canvas panels, Masonite, stretcher bars and canvas by the roll (will also need a staple gun), Clayboard brand Smooth Surface, and Art Spectrum Colourfix Coated Pastel paper (will also need a drawing board or hard backing to clip paper onto)
