Social Skills Therapy
The Social Skills Therapy service provides an individualized, multidisciplinary, diagnostic-prescriptive program designed to meet the specific needs of each student. Through a visual, auditory, and kinesthetic approach to social language, the student’s strongest channels of learning are stimulated.
The Social Skills Therapy program centers on six areas of concentration in order to help students who struggle with peer relationships. These areas are: Awareness of Self and Others; Social Language; Communication; Body Language; Emotional Development and Awareness; and Problem Solving. The focus of the Social Skills Training Sessions is on the remediation of the student’s particular weaknesses.
To assist in future program planning, formal assessments are completed at the end of each school year to record individual student progress, and these assessments are available to each family.
