Social Skills
For Making and Keeping Friends

Social Skills Groups are offered for children in grades 2-12 to help them learn skills that are important in making friends and maintaining positive social interactions with peers. Children and adolescents discuss ways of coping with these situations and practice new skills through role- plays, games, and cooperative activities.

 

Topics for group sessions include:

  • self-discovery
  • building a friendship
  • communicating with others
  • joining groups
  • being assertive
  • anger management
  • dealing with teasing
  • solving conflicts

Social Skills Groups Offered 2007-2008:

Friends Club III for Adolescents Grades 9-12:  TBD

Friends Club II for Boys Grades 5-7: Tuesday’s 3:15-4:15

Friends Club II for Girls Grades 5-8:  Wednesday’s 3:15-4:15
 
Friends Club I for Boys and Girls Grades 2-4:  TBD 3:15-4:15

Cost is $340 for eight weeks.  An application is required plus a $100 non-refundable registration fee for all new members.  Space is limited.Classes will be held at Forsyth Country Day School in Lewisville, N.C.  Individual and group sessions can be scheduled during the school day for children in grades 1-12.
