Amani is the Swahili word for peace. The Amani Children’s Foundation is a 501c3 organization focused on serving children who have been orphaned by AIDS in Africa. They build bridges of understanding and financial support for these children. Parents are dying of AIDS and traditional extended family tribal structures can no longer care for them. The largest number of orphans the world has ever known now live in Africa. This challenge is of unprecedented proportion, 15 million orphans who are vulnerable to neglect, abuse, radical politics and to eventually getting AIDS themselves.
In November, 2006, Amani released the Amani Means Peace CD, a unique collection of arrangements by 25 children's choirs from across the Triad with an introduction by maya Angelou. Mrs. Frack participated with Lower School students from FCDS. The students also adopted Maggie (below).
