Jeremy Truhel is the Upper School and Middle School Choral Director at FCDS; he directs the Upper School Concert Choir and Chorus as well as the Middle School Boys’ Chorus, Girls’ Chorus, Advanced Ensemble, and Fifth and Sixth Grade Choruses. He also serves as the Coordinator for the Fine Arts Department.

Jeremy received his bachelor's degree in music education and voice performance from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio, then went on to study voice, opera, and choral conducting at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where he received his master's degree in music. He has also completed language studies at Middlebury College in Vermont and Centro Studi Italiani in Urbania, Italy, as well as advanced music studies at the Eastman School of Music. He has completed his Level II certification for Doreen Rao's Choral Music Experience Program at Elon University.

Originally from the coast of Maine, Jeremy has taught in a variety of school settings at all age levels throughout Maine, Ohio, and North Carolina. Choirs at FCDS under Jeremy’s direction have received “superior” ratings at state-wide choral festivals and have placed in numerous music competitions. He also offers private voice lessons at the FCDS Community School of the Performing Arts. Mr. Truhel’s private voice students have gone on to study music at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Eastman School of Music, UNC-Chapel Hill, Ohio State University, and Vassar College. Jeremy is also the Director of Music at Kernersville Moravian Church where he conducts the Adult Chancel Choir, the youth choirs, and the Handbell Choir. Jeremy is married to Dr. Wendy Looker, who is the director of choral activities at Guilford College; they live in Kernersville and are the proud parents of their daughter, Madeleine, born in June 2008.
