The next year Peter Funk produced the first full stage production, an Upper School dramatization of The Physician in Spite of Himself by Moliere. Since that time, the theater program has grown to include virtually every grade in some form of stage production. From those first days under Funk’s direction, the philosophy of the program has been student theater. In other words, as much responsibility is vested in the students as possible. Not only do they benefit from the words of the author, but from the time, effort and dedication required to make a successful production. |

Not only can such powerful plays as Anne Frank and Me stimulate further inquiry and personal reflection, but the satisfaction of a job well done teaches teamwork, self esteem, and a sense of shared humanity. |

The theater program has come a long way in two decades, but it has a long way to go before it can provide a top quality performance venue for these very talented actors, directors, and technicians. We hope that you will continue to support us as we work to make the Frances Pollock Performing Arts Center a reality. |
