NCIS Choral Festival

Each fall the Ensemble attends the NCIS Choral Festival at a North Carolina Independent School.

2003

On October 26 and 27, 2003, the ensemble participated in the NC Independent Schools Choral Festival at Ravenscroft School in Raleigh. During the two-day festival, they rehearsed with Professor Rodney Eichenberger in a combined choir made up of more than 200 singers from six independent schools.

The combined repertoire included one major solo.  Auditions were held and FCDS senior K'idar Miller was selected. The festival concluded with a concert, which was well-attended by parents from all over the state. In addition to the mass choir, the ensemble performed two pieces alone: “Hark, I Hear the Harps Eternal” featuring soloist Virginia Browne, and “Bogoroditse Devo” from their new CD, which is available in the Fury, Ltd .

2002

On October 27 and 28 of 2002, FCDS and six other independent schools participated in the sixth annual NCIS Choral Festival hosted by Charlotte Latin School. We rehearsed for two days with clinician Barbara Retzko, Director of Choral Activities at Ridge High School in Basking Ridge, NJ. On Monday night’s concert, each school performed two songs and then combined for a mass choir performance conducted by the clinician.
