Colin Tribby, originally from Winston-Salem , N.C. , began his studies at the North Carolina School of the Arts where he studied with J. Massie Johnson. Upon graduation from high school, Colin moved to New York to study at the Juilliard School with Elden "Buster" Bailey. While in New York, he worked as a percussionist, writer, and vocalist for several original rock groups where he collaborated with members of Grammy Award-winning acts such as Train, The Counting Crows and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. His compositions and arrangements have been featured in such films as "The Rough South of Larry Brown," written by Emmy Award-winning director Gary Hawkins and the Showtime Original "When it's Over". He is presently pursuing his Bachelor of Music degree at The North Carolina School of the Arts where he is a student of John R. Beck. Currently, Colin holds the position of Section Percussionist with the Winston-Salem Symphony and is active as a jazz drummer with several combos and big bands in the North Carolina area. |
