Stephen D. "Steve" Hickman became Heathwood Hall's seventh head of school in July, 2000 after a successful three-year term as assistant head of Lakeview Academy in Gainesville, GA. An alumnus of the Memphis University School, Mr. Hickman knows first hand the benefits of outstanding independent schooling. That experience eventually propelled him into leadership in the financial services industry, and then drew him back into a career in education as a school administrator.
Mr. Hickman holds an undergraduate degree from Loyola University, a M.S. from The Johns Hopkins University, a M.Ed. from Brenau University, and a J.D. from George Mason University. He and his wife, Mary, are parents of three Heathwood students.

Among his corporate jobs, Mr. Hickman has served as Vice President of Strategic Planning and Corporate Secretary for the Nasdaq Stock Market and National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc.; President, CEO, and COO of UVEST Investment Services; and Director of Internal Audit at Howard, Weil, Labouisse, Friedrichs, Inc.
