Ray Quesnel - Assistant Headmaster
Ray grew up in Massachusetts and Rhode Island and attended the University of Vermont, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in mathematics in 1989. After marrying his "college sweetheart," Wendy (the current FCDS Assistant Director of the Middle School), the two moved to Asheville, where Ray served at The Asheville School as a teacher, coach, and administrator for 11 years. Since coming to FCDS in July 2000, Ray has taught algebra II and AP statistics, served as the head coach of both the boy's varsity baseball team and the girls' varsity basketball team, the assistant athletic director, assistant director of the Upper School, and the academic dean. He is currently the Assistant Headmaster. Ray has served as the PACIS conference representative to the Board of Managers of the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association, and has also served as a board member for the West Central Community Center basketball league. His hobbies include scuba diving, golfing, collecting sports memorabilia, traveling, and spending as much time as possible with Wendy and their two children, Kelly and Jonathan.
