Forsyth Country Day School
SAIS Visiting Committee Report
October 19-21, 2003
This was a joint accreditations visit of both SACS and SAIS which is a method that provides member schools all the benefits of both SACS and SAIS accreditation. The members of the SAIS Visiting Committee commend the School for its gracious hospitality and warm reception. It was clear upon our arrival that the students and faculty and staff were especially welcoming and represented their School well. The Committee talked with many people on campus, including teachers, staff, administration, parents and students. We attended classes, assemblies and various meetings with members of the School Improvement Team. In addition, the Chair had the opportunity to meet with the Business Officer and discuss the Operating Budge and the most recent audit. The method of self-study used was the SACS School Improvement Program, to which Forsyth Country Day School has recently transitioned. The self-study and the visit by the Visiting Committee followed SACS guidelines. SAIS does not require a separate visit, only this addendum report by the SAIS Visiting Chair. The findings of the SACS Committee are the findings of SAIS. The Chair spent part of her time as a regular member of the whole Visiting Committee as well as focusing on the SAIS Standards to determine compliance. The SAIS Visiting Committee Chair finds:
- That Forsyth Country Day School is in full compliance with all SAIS Standards
- That the self-study meets the standards requiring such evaluation
- That Forsyth Country Day School is recommended for initial accreditation by SAIS
- Further, the Visiting Committee for SAIS presents the additional results of its review of the self-study and of its visits along with the SACS report.
