Athletic Initiatives
2003 Updates in orange In recent years Forsyth Country Day School has expanded our student base and facilities. With this expansion the athletic department is striving to improve our programs in order to offer student enrichment through the following initiatives:
- Furr Field House for football, lacrosse, and tennis
Cement pads poured to move existing bleachers to begin construction
- The Scott and Michelle Livengood Center for our Lower School athletic and activity programs, as well as dance for students in all divisions
- A fully-integrated strength and conditioning program
Todd Hedrick hired as Director of Strength and Conditioning
- An assistant trainer for the athletic training staff
- Increased camp, “school” and individual lesson offerings
- The renovation of Tierney Gymnasium (i.e., new bleachers and a new playing court)
Painting complete by 9/5/03
- Middle School and junior varsity teams in all sports offered at the varsity level
M/S football and field hockey teams added 2003 - 2004
- A year-round tennis program/tennis academy with a director/coach, and tennis court lighting
Denard McLendon started Maximum Tennis Academy at FCDS. Courts lights installed by 10/14/03.
- A more fully-developed intramural program for all Middle and Upper School students
- A year-round swimming program with a director/coach
- Additional land and facilities for future baseball stadium, cross country course, etc.
