Part 2: Mission and Beliefs

Words matter! Not only can they accurately describe the way a school community is now, but they also can inspire and guide how a school can continue to evolve. In the fall of 2001, Forsyth Country Day School started a process that reviewed, revised, and ultimately resulted in the adoption of a student-centered mission statement and set of shared beliefs. The carefully chosen words reflect a commitment to student success, and clearly identify the multiple ways that success should be defined. In explaining the reason for sending her child to FCDS a mother said, “the students learn balance here.” This is a perfect example of a parent's clear understanding of the school's promise to develop the whole child.
