Mark Moroz is originally from Welland, Ontario, Canada, where he attended Notre Dame High School. There, Moroz excelled on the football field and in the classroom, and was recognized as a 1st team All-Canadian member for football and academics. Moroz was also a member of his high school’s basketball, soccer, and lacrosse teams. It was football, however, that provided him the opportunity to attend Wake Forest University on a full football scholarship. At Wake Forest, Moroz started as a tight end during his true freshman year, and went on to start at offensive tackle for the following three seasons. In 2002, he posted 149 knockdowns (13.5 per game), which still stands as the record for most knockdowns in a season by an offensive lineman at Wake Forest. That same year, Moroz was selected to the All-ACC 2nd team as the Deacons went on to defeat Oregon in the Seattle Bowl. In 2003, he was honored as a 4th team All-American and as a 1st team All-ACC member. After the 2003 season, Moroz played in two college all-star games, The Hula Bowl in Maui, Hawaii, and the Blue Grey Classic in Alabama. He was also named to Wake Forest’s All Decade Team. He graduated from Wake Forest University in 2003 with a degree in Communications.

Moroz signed a free agent contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFL and was also drafted in the 1st round, 4th player overall, in the Canadian Football League draft. He spent 4 months with Tampa Bay before being released. He then moved to Toronto, where he helped the Argonauts win the Grey Cup Championship. He played for Toronto for two seasons before being traded to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. In 2006, Moroz retired from playing football and decided to go into coaching. He took a position with Wake Forest as the football team’s recruiting assistant and helped the Deacs go on to win an ACC championship and an appearance in the BCS Orange Bowl in Miami, FL. In 2007, Moroz assisted the Deacons’ defensive staff as they went on to defeat Connecticut in the Meineke Car Care Bowl in Charlotte, NC.

Moroz is also musically talented, and he enjoys playing guitar, piano, and saxophone.
