A native of Greensboro, North Carolina and a 1997 graduate of Northwest Guilford High School, Justin attended Brunswick Community College on an athletic grant for Men’s Basketball in 1998. In 2002, he earned his bachelor's degree from UNC-Greensboro from the school of Health and Human Performance. Justin continued his education at Virginia Commonwealth University where he attained his Master’s Degree in Sports Administration while working as a Graduate Assistant Coach for the men’s basketball program under current University of Oklahoma Basketball Coach, Jeff Capel, III. The Rams finished (19-11) in 2005-2006 with a final RPI of 81 out of 326.

Justin also served as an Assistant Basketball Coach at Greensboro College in 2004-2005 with current Furies Athletic Director, Rusty LaRue. There, Justin helped the Pride to a 3rd place finish in the USA South athletic Conference. Justin has also been an instructor at numerous basketball camps and schools including Duke Basketball Camp (8 years), Georgia Tech, university of Maryland, University of North Carolina at Greensboro, University of Virginia, Pfeiffer University, The Rusty LaRue Basketball Academy (6 years), and Virginia Commonwealth University. He also served as a team Manager for the 2005 Washington Wizards training camp.

Justin resides in Clemmons with wife (and fellow faculty member), Lindsay Duhon McClendon and son Jordan.
