Our Big Words
Judith Kuhn
One of the most important aspects of my job as a teacher is, I do believe, to ask children the right questions. In January my kindergarten class listened to me read a book about Martin Luther King, Jr. The name of the book is Martin’s Big Words. The author gives some facts about Dr. King’s life and accompanies each page with a quote from one of his speeches. After I read the book, I asked the children if they could tell me some big words of their own, and I would write them down. I was very impressed by what they said.
